Annual Report on the Development of China's Study Abroad（2012）No.1 provides an overview of the current state and the notable features of, and key issues in studying abroad among Chinese. There are five parts to the report: a general report, regional reports, reports on featured topics, a final synthesis and an appendix.

In addition to a review of overseas educational pursuits among Chinese in the last century or so, , the report looks closely at the current century, during which more and more people at younger ages from a widening swath of society have been choosing to study abroad, and enjoying more options. In particular, on the basis of a sound study of overseas educational pursuit among high school and university students from 2010 to 2011, the report’s authors conclude that growth in this area will likely continue for some time to come.
