The city is an important carrier of modernization，and the modernization of urban governance is the inherent requirement of promoting Chinese-style modernization. With a large population，large volume and many factors，cities are a gathering place of resources such as talents，economy and science and technology，an important engine for economic and social development，and an important node of the national and global economic system. Therefore，urban governance has the characteristics of complexity，difference and particularity，and the urban governance system andmethods need to be continuously explored and advance with the times.

Based on practice and years of data accumulation，the China Urban Management Report 2023 analyzes economic，social，environmental，scientific and technological innovation，infrastructure and other fields，and focuses on hot issues in the capital to provide governance paths for analyzing the causes and development trends of urban problems.

The general report comprehensively analyzes the overall management level of China’s 36 key cities to propose the path of urban governance modernization，that is，fully absorb the excellent traditional Chinese culture，pay much attention to the “details” of the city，and make use of the advantages of science and technology and city clusters to realize the sharing and interoperability of public services.
