This is the 25th edition of this annual report, and is the result collaboration among researchers from the Rural Development Institute of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Rural Social and Economic Research Division of the National Bureau of Statistics. The book opens with a general report that offers  an overall  analysis of China’s agricultural and rural economy in 2016,  outlook for 2017, and , especially supply-side structural reform. In the special reports that follow contributors look at the income and consumption of rural residents, major agricultural products, and the fishing and forestry industries. A number of issues that have received wide media coverage are also examined, including  supply-side structural reform in agriculture, reform in agricultural operating system, quality monitoring and control, grain purchasing and storage system,  migrant workers who return home, rural tourism.
