Description:

This book analyses Chinese city women’s life quality and consumption status, and also forecasts future trends, based on first hand survey data.
In 2010,City women’s consumption status has improved after the international financial crisis. According to the number of women, the biggest amount of money they spent on is in the following order: clothing, travel, health, car and housing related items. Beauty consumption has kept rising. About 70 percent women shop online. About 90 percent women are aware of environment. Their investment asset has increased and the number of women investors is on the rise. City women’s expectations of the government are: controlling food and daily necessities’ prices, strengthening supervision and guaranteeing food safety, firmly controlling housing price, subsidizing green and low carbon products.
Generally speaking, Chinese city women’s life quality is fairly good. City women are economically independent, contributing 35.8 percent to their families’ income. In 2010, 42 percent women’s income increased, while 36.6 percent women were satisfied with their income, 61.7 percent women are happy with their jobs. 85.3 percent feel work pressure. Working overtime is a common phenomenon. The increasing pollution, an important factor, has affected women’s life quality, and their grading of the living environment has kept sliding year by year. Rising commodity price has become the biggest worry for women, and they wanted most an income-increase so that life can be improved and quality upgraded. They also hope the gap between the poor and the rich will get smaller and the society will be harmonious.
This book has expanded the two reports respectively: “Chinese city women’s life quality survey” and “Chinese city women’s consumption survey”, into 10 sub-reports. It can help readers get details on women’s status in each sample city while knowing the general situation so they can evaluate women’s life more deep and holistically.
“Chinese family and marital satisfaction survey report” shows a couple’s bond is the foundation of a marriage and harmonious family. It is also the source of women’s happiness. “Explanation on middle income family’s life quality survey report” shows middle income family’s consumption characters and their life quality features. “2010 Women of China readers’ survey” and “Women’s reading: Survey analysis report” tell women’s demands in leisure markets.
