This book selects the most typical and widely spoken languages and literatures of Hausa and Swahili, and aims to grasp the basic characteristics and laws of the development of African indigenous languages and literatures during the British colonial period, analyze their choices in the process of interaction with foreign cultures, reflect on the motives and strategies of Western cultural hegemony using literature as a carrier, and try to change the current paradigm of African literary studies in which English African literature is the main object of study, fully affirm the important value and status of African indigenous languages and literatures, and thus improve the connotation of African literary studies.
