While the Chinese economy as a whole has come a long way since the country’s adoption of reform and opening-up 40 years ago, one of the most fascinating aspects of this growth has been coordinated growth at the sub-national, i.e., regional level. The volumes provides a comprehensive overview of the 2018-2019 growth performance in five of the country’s best-known regional units for development purposes, including those that cover Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei,  the Yangtze River delta area, the Pearl River delta and surrounding southern coastal area, central and western China, and Northeast China.
