Description:

Report to the 18thCPC (Communist Party of China) National Congress put forward that “sci-tech innovation provides strategic support for raising the productive forces and boosting the overall national strength, and we must give it top priority in overall national development”,andstressed the need to follow a path of independent innovation with Chinese features and implement the strategy of innovation-driven development. Since then, the new &hi-tech industries, marked by sci-tech innovation, have undertaken the arduous task of accelerating industrial upgrading and promoting the growth of strategic emerging industries. As one of the important models of achieving financial support to the real economy, M&A is conducive to acquiring advanced management experiences and promoting technical innovation, and is thus of great strategic significance for speeding up the transformation and upgrading of the Chinese economy in the “new normal” era. In 2017, the total amount of M&A transactions across the Chinese market as reached 2.9 trillion RMB with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 20.3% since 2013. Standing at the new start point of China’s economic new normal and further financial reform, faced with the new requirement of promoting economic development with sci-tech innovation, we need to promptly sum up the development experience of the new&hi-tech industrial M&A market and identify the possible problems. All this has important practical meanings for further promoting the development of the M&Amarket, accelerating the transformation and upgrading of the real economy and enhancing the driving forces of innovation.
